Under the current administration the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has been operating under the direction of Mick Mulvaney, who is also the head of the Office of Management and Budget. The Bureau is now poised to have a new director, Kathleen Kraninger, who many industry observers believe will be confirmed.
The industry clearly believes Kraninger will keep the Bureau moving in the same direction of Mulvaney. The nation’s largest trade groups have endorsed Kraininger, including National Association of Realtors, the Mortgage Bankers Association, the National Association of Home Builders, and the National Multifamily Housing Council.
Kraninger is currently an associate director for general government with the White House’s Office of Management and Budget.A vote to confirm Kraninger in the Senate is expected soon.
